What are the attributes of a great IT staffing vendor?

 

There are eight criteria that are important to me... 

 

The first 3 are the ante:

  • Price - competitive and does not create an organizational issue with employees
  • Responsiveness - in all ways
  • Quality - never questioned

 

Then there are the differentiators:

  • Helping to Promote the client in the business community. -the vendor offers ways to promote the client through the use of their network.
  • Helping to support employee development. -the vendor offers seminars, lunch and learns, etc for the client's employees to attend, contributes training and development materials.
  • Partnering with the client in community relations activities, i.e. providing sponsorship, actively participating, opening up events for the client's employees to participate in.
  • Helping with employee satisfaction. -the vendor works with the hiring manager to ensure that they are receiving the best account management possible.
  • Helping the hiring manager to be successful. -the vendor works with the hiring manager to ensure that their candidate is continuing to meet the standards initially set forth in the requisition, proactively solicits feedback on candidates placed and account management.

 

Of course, integrity and ethics are paramount.

 

As you think of these attributes, you can see how the vendor can be a true partner to the CIO in helping the entire IT be more successfull.

 

One final thought though...  someone needs to make sure the procurement officer understands the value of a true trusted partner and the value it brings beyond just price.
